Welcome to Its Ok To Not Be Ok
Mental Health Blog – Brought to you by a guy with severe mental and physical health

Funny enough that’s something both mental and physical health specialists tell you when your first brought to their attention when you are clearly unwell, ‘Its ok to not be ok’
But as time goes on, for a lot of people their mental health needs goes untreated, un-noticed, lots of internal suffering – others cannot see their hurt, their emotional pain – sadly society just goes on without a thought for those with mental health, the people who only get the help are the ones deemed to be a danger to self and others! – which increases self harm and suicidal feelings.

However if you find yourself struggling the NHS and other emergency services always recommend to contact your GP first especially if you do not have a mental health team or a diagnosis they will then make arrangements for a telephone call with the local mental health team who will then make an outpatients appointment for you to see one of the team, all of this takes a lot of time.

The 2nd piece of advice is to call the local Crisis number for support, this is usually by calling 111, option 2. Its quite scary calling at first, your heads racing, what will they say, what will happen to me, – 99.9% of the time, absolutely nothing will happen, they will talk to you and listein, they never ever sign-post for any immediate help, other than if you can’t keep yourself safe you need to visit the nearest A+E department. For anyone whos suffering a MH crisis the atmosphere and huge waiting times makes the whole situation that more difficult.
